Clancy Catelin Presents For OBA Health Law Section

On November 20, 2024, Clancy Catelin presented for the OBA Health Law "Keeping Up with Health Law" Series on the criminal conviction and appeal in the case of case R v. Marchant. This case concerns two paramedics who were convicted of failing to provide the necessaries of life contrary to section 215(3) of the Criminal Code. Clancy’s presentation highlighted this case as a tragic reminder that a marked departure from the standard of care by a health care professional can take an adverse event from a disciplinary or administrative process, to a criminal process.
